A nasal CT revealed a regionally extensive mass with the left caudal nasopharynx. The vet then did an endoscopy to grab a sample. The biopsy results showed no cancer however the vet still suspects it is cancer and explains, they were only able to get the edge of the mass, which is most likely just inflamed tissue surrounding a cancer mass. After putting my elderly dog through this (and spending $3200) I am wondering why they did not shift the plan (after seeing location of mass on CT) and do a fine needle aspiration or a surgical biopsy while she was still sedated. Has anyone been in this situation? Is it reasonable of me to have expected them to use a different approach after the CT information?
